Odemi Pessu is an author, artist, and global women's rights advocate. Odemi is the author of Force of Nature, a book encouraging African & indigenous women to honor their divine feminine power for true liberation and decolonization of mind, body, and spirit. Odemi earned her Master of Public Affairs at Brown University, where she also earned her bachelor’s degree in International Relations concentrating in Political Economy. She is a Ron Brown Scholar, a Questbridge Scholar and was recognized in 2014 by the Georgia House of Representatives with a bipartisan house resolution in her honor. Her work thoughtfully unites the holistic wellness of young women with sustainable development and decolonization on the African continent. Her past research has centered economic development, gender equity, and political ecology in Nigeria, her family’s home country. A visual artist, culture enthusiast, and zealot for socio-economic equity, Odemi is revolutionizing the way art, literature, and purpose-driven creative media are used as tools of socio-political transformation in African communities.
